Court closures in Victoria

This report made a number of recommendations regarding management efficiency issues relating to the closure of courthouses in Victoria. The audit provided comments on many aspects of the activities of the then Department of Conservation, Forests and Lands, the former Department of Crown Lands and Survey, and the Law Department in relation to the closure of courts from 1965 to the date of the review. The Report addressed issues concerning: closure of courts and the criteria applied; utilisation of courthouses; historical implications and maintenance requirements of closed courthouses; court furniture and records; alternative uses for closed courthouses.
