Managing school attendance

Tabled: 9 December 2004

Overview

Attending school regularly is a critical factor in student success, and poor attendance can have lifelong consequences for students. Sound management of student attendance is one of the most important measures for minimising student absenteeism. This audit considers how effective these attendance management practices in schools are, and whether the Department of Education and Training and schools have clear and rigorous processes in place, which form the foundation for effective student attendance management.
