Managing Victoria’s air quality
Overview
The objective of the audit was to determine whether the Environment Protection Authority’s activities in monitoring and managing air quality in the short-term, and reducing air pollution in the longer-term, are undertaken in an efficient and effective manner. Specifically, the audit examined the Authority’s activities in relation to: its strategic approach and planning for air quality control; monitoring air pollution; controlling motor vehicle emissions; licensing of industry to control air pollution; mechanisms such as public information and education. The Environment Protection Authority was the major focus of the examination.
