Managing patient safety in public hospitals

This report considers the effectiveness of the arrangements Victoria’s health services and hospitals have in place to identify, investigate, address and prevent clinical incidents. The work is based on a survey of all public hospitals in Victoria that provide acute care, and detailed fieldwork at five health services. The report recommends steps that health services and the Department of Human Services can take to improve performance in this critical area.
