Overview

This report outlines the results of the audit of the Annual Financial Report for the State of Victoria for the year ended 30 June 2002. The Annual Financial Report presents the financial position of the State of Victoria and the General Government (Budget) Sector. A clear audit opinion was provided on the 2001–02 Annual Financial Report. The State’s overall condition shows that it remains strong. However, there are a number of vulnerabilities and emerging pressures which require careful management. The strategic challenge for the Government remains to ensure that the key risks to the State’s finances are clearly identified and taken into account in its ongoing financial planning and management.
